Buying & using your eSIM

From choosing a plan to getting online: answers for SeaChart Connect customers.

How do I buy an eSIM?

  1. Check that your device supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked. Sign in, choose a plan covering your destination, review its activation and refund conditions, and top up your USD wallet.
  2. Pay using your wallet balance. After successful issuance, open Account → My eSIMs for the installation QR code. A pending order is not a second purchase; a rejected order returns its reserved amount to your wallet.

Can I use an eSIM if my device only takes physical SIM cards?

Some devices can use a compatible removable eUICC card: a special physical card that stores downloadable eSIM profiles. A regular SIM cannot do this, and having a SIM slot alone does not establish compatibility.

Ask the card maker to confirm your exact device, OS, SIM slot and chosen plan. Loading the SeaChart Connect installation details may require the maker’s management app, a compatible Android device or a card reader. Some devices can only use a profile loaded elsewhere, rather than download or switch profiles themselves; follow the card maker’s instructions.

SeaChart Connect supplies the eSIM plan and installation details, not an eUICC card or guaranteed third-party compatibility. Confirm that your device is carrier-unlocked and supports the destination networks before buying. Do not use a potentially single-use installation code just to test compatibility.

Before buying, download the Android app from the EasyEUICC website and open Compatibility Check to inspect your device and accessible SIM slots. Android 9 or later is currently required. Without a card, checks are partial; card recognition and plan download still require a compatible eUICC. Passing the check does not guarantee every card or plan will work. Do not test downloads with your real installation code.

What do total data and daily data mean?

A total-data plan shares its allowance over its validity period. Daily plans provide a daily allowance; the plan details distinguish the following different rules. A GB is a data quantity, not a speed.

Rules vary by plan. The following are alternatives, not rules that all apply together. Check the conditions shown in your chosen plan’s details before buying.

Daily plans with reduced speed after the allowance: After the daily high-speed allowance, speed is reduced under the fair use policy. Actual speeds vary.

Daily plans that stop data after the allowance: Data stops when the daily allowance is exhausted, until the next allowance period.

Unlimited-data plans: Unlimited data is subject to the supplier’s fair use policy.

What do the prices and price per GB mean?

The two price lines are Pro and standard prices; your account determines which applies. Price per GB helps compare value. For daily plans, the displayed price is for one day; the total changes with selected days.

Can you match a lower Pro price from another provider?

Except for New Zealand, we can try to match a lower publicly advertised price for a comparable eSIM plan. Send us the provider name and a public link showing the destination coverage, data allowance, validity and price.

We will check the offer and explore whether we can offer a comparable price. Price matching is subject to review and supplier availability; it is not a guarantee. Please contact [email protected] before purchasing.

Price matching must be requested before purchase. We cannot apply a price match or refund a price difference after purchase. You are still welcome to share lower public offers after buying; your feedback may help us secure better prices for your future purchases.

Why is New Zealand excluded from price matching?

Tax and payment-processing costs can make our New Zealand pricing less competitive. New Zealand is currently excluded from our price-matching offer.

For taxable sales to New Zealand residents, we may need to account for GST at 15% of the GST-exclusive selling price. GST is a government tax paid to Inland Revenue, not part of our profit. Where applicable, it may still be payable even if we sell without making a profit. The tax treatment depends on the transaction and customer circumstances, not just the eSIM destination.

Stripe also charges us to process card payments, including international cards. These charges generally include a fixed amount per transaction plus a percentage of the payment; currency conversion may add further costs. These are costs we pay to the payment provider, rather than additional profit for SeaChart Connect.

How do coverage, networks and SIM country differ?

Coverage lists usable countries, including regional and global plans. Operator networks list supported carriers; 4G/5G availability depends on device and local signal. SIM home country and data exit country are different; an exit country does not add coverage.

Uses land-based mobile networks, not satellites. Coverage depends on nearby cell towers; service is generally unavailable offshore or in the open sea.

When does validity start?

Rules vary by plan. The following are alternatives, not rules that all apply together. Check the conditions shown in your chosen plan’s details before buying.

Plans starting on installation: Validity starts when the eSIM is installed, even before arrival.

Plans starting on first destination network connection: You can buy and install this eSIM before your trip. Installation does not start the validity period. After arrival, turn on your phone and enable this eSIM; activation and validity begin only when it first connects to a supported mobile network at your destination. Turning on the phone alone does not activate the plan.

Plans starting on purchase: Validity starts immediately after purchase. Buy on your travel day or on arrival.

The installation deadline shown in Details is separate from usage validity. Daily data reset times depend on the carrier. Check the chosen plan before installing early.

Can I get an eSIM refund?

Rules vary by plan. The following are alternatives, not rules that all apply together. Check the conditions shown in your chosen plan’s details before buying.

Plans starting on first destination network connection: For this first-network-connection plan, you may request a full refund to your wallet within 90 days of purchase if it has not been activated or used, even if already installed. Activation means the first connection to a supported mobile network at the destination. For an installed but unactivated eSIM, contact support to request the refund; status must be verified.

Plans starting on installation: Refund policy: unused, uninstalled and unactivated eSIMs may qualify for a full refund requested within 90 days of purchase, subject to verification and plan restrictions.

Plans starting on purchase: Non-refundable and non-cancellable once purchased, even if not installed or used.

Installed, activated or partially used eSIMs cannot be automatically refunded. Connection-failure cases require support review; a partial refund is not guaranteed.

Can I refund a wallet top-up?

Minimum top-up: USD 10

Wallet top-ups are non-refundable.

We incur payment processing fees of approximately USD 0.30 + 3.5% per payment. Actual fees vary and cannot be accurately allocated to each refund, so we do not offer voluntary refunds of wallet top-ups. Your statutory rights are unaffected.

Where is my eSIM, and how do I install it?

  1. Open Account → My eSIMs → Installation. Use reliable Wi-Fi and scan the QR code with the destination device, or enter the installation details manually if supported.
  2. Install only on your intended compatible device. Do not share your QR/activation code or delete an installed eSIM to troubleshoot: transfer or reinstallation may not be supported.

How do I set up an iPhone or iPad?

  1. In Settings → Cellular/Mobile Data, use Add eSIM to install. Select the new line, turn it on, and enable Data Roaming for that line.
  2. Under Cellular Data, select the travel eSIM. Turn Allow Cellular Data Switching off to avoid falling back to your primary SIM. Keep roaming off on the primary SIM unless you intend to use its roaming plan.

How do I set up Android or Pixel?

  1. In Settings → Network & internet → SIMs, add/download the eSIM. Select it, enable Use SIM, Mobile data and Data Roaming, and choose it as the data SIM. Menu names vary by manufacturer.
  2. Check Access Point Names (APN). Use only the APN supplied in your purchased eSIM details; if required, add it, save and select it. Do not guess APN values.

What if there is no signal, only 3G/E, or an unstable connection?

  1. Confirm you are in a covered destination, the eSIM is enabled, data roaming is on and its line is selected for data. Toggle Airplane Mode for about 30 seconds, then reconnect or restart; if necessary, select a supported operator manually.
  2. Check the APN and any VPN that may interfere. On iOS, review Settings → General → VPN & Device Management, but do not delete all profiles or remove work/school management settings. Ask support or your administrator first.

How do I contact SeaChart Connect support?
