Ports of entry / departure

The local government yacht guide lists Mata-Utu Port on Wallis and Leava Port on Futuna as arrival locations. It also asks vessels to contact Wallis Radio before entering territorial waters and says Immigration and Customs formalities are handled at Mata-Utu. If planning to visit Futuna/Leava first, obtain written confirmation from Border Police and Customs in advance that the voyage can clear its initial arrival there.

Before arrival

The official Customs yacht-procedure page requires the master to notify local Customs at least 24 hours before arrival. An entry-clearance form may be sent in advance with the previous port’s departure-clearance document. Customs on Futuna is open only on working days; arrange the processing time by email in advance. The local government also requires AIS to be switched on before entering territorial waters and asks vessels to report their approach to Wallis Radio; the page does not give one general advance-notice period.

Vessel customs

Customs in both Wallis and Futuna provides arrival and departure clearance forms for visiting yachts. The current public procedure asks for the entry form and previous-port departure clearance on arrival; on departure, submit the departure-clearance form and obtain a stamped copy. Immigration inspection is handled separately by gendarmes/border authorities; Customs clearance does not replace Immigration formalities. The Customs webpage dates from 2015; confirm before sailing whether forms or procedures have changed.

The official Wallis and Futuna yacht Customs entry form requires cargo to be declared and separately asks about firearms/ammunition, controlled medicines, animals, plants and other dangerous, controlled or restricted goods. This is a declaration prompt, not a complete restricted-items list. Confirm permits and handling requirements with Customs/SIVAP before carrying these items.

At Wallis, anchor off Mata-Utu Port, go ashore by tender to complete formalities and contact the port office. At Futuna, anchor off Leava and go ashore to complete formalities. Customs also requires at least 24 hours’ notice. Customs entry clearance does not complete Immigration checks; Customs on Futuna is open only on working days and must be arranged in advance.
