Tunisia Customs’ temporary importation/suspension-of-duties procedure has eligibility limits. The page says temporary admission of a foreign private yacht applies to individuals whose main residence is outside the Tunisian customs territory and who meet the non-resident conditions; the yacht must be for the individual’s private use and may not be used for local commercial operations, rental or transfer under this procedure. The page describes a 180-day permit and an extension under specified conditions; this is not an unconditional stay right for every vessel. The declaration includes vessel, owner/user, voyage, people and onboard-stores information.

Tunisia Customs’ pet-entry information requires accompanying pets to have a health certificate issued by the official veterinary authority in the country of origin or by the border authority, and a health record including rabies vaccination. Customs also says wild animals and their parts, and CITES-protected animals and plants, require prescribed documentation or special permits. Available information concerns travellers generally and does not explain how food, pets or plants kept aboard but not landed are treated. Confirm with the destination port veterinary/plant-quarantine service before departure.

Arrival procedures

Tunisia Customs says foreign yachts arriving from abroad must, except in confirmed force-majeure circumstances, enter a port with a Customs office and submit an arrival declaration, yacht manifest and relevant yacht navigation permit. During the permit’s validity, calling at other Tunisian ports may not require repeating the same Customs formalities, according to the Customs page. On departure, submit the departure declaration and required information on people and stores to Customs at the port of departure.
