Overview

Scope

Niue's Biosecurity Act requires arriving vessels to submit an arrival declaration, wait for inspection and receive clearance. Planned visits must be declared at least 72 hours in advance; unplanned visits at least 12 hours in advance. On arrival, the master must take the vessel to the seaport biosecurity holding area as instructed and allow officers to board and inspect. No people or goods may leave the vessel before biosecurity release. These are biosecurity requirements and do not replace confirmation of customs, immigration or port clearance.

Vessel-document preparation note: have registration/nationality documents, proof of ownership or owner's authorization, insurance, previous-port clearance and an inventory ready. Ask Niue Customs whether temporary admission, retention aboard, repairs, crew changes, sale or conversion to commercial use require additional formalities. No duty-free period or guarantee requirement applicable to all foreign vessels has been confirmed. Berthing permission is not customs release.

Verification status: To be confirmed. No independent local official source was verified for this section. This is pre-voyage preparation guidance, not a statement of statutory permits, deadlines or rates.
