Private yachts must complete relevant clearance at an official port of entry before proceeding elsewhere. Immigration requires vessels to submit vessel, personnel and voyage details in advance and obtain written approval before sailing to the Marshall Islands. Confirm immigration, customs, port and quarantine formalities separately with the responsible authorities.

Immigration lists the following official seaports: Darrit Anchorage in Majuro, Kwajalein Anchorage and Ebeye Anchorage in Kwajalein Atoll, and Jabor Island Anchorage in Jaluit Atoll. Clear at an official port before proceeding elsewhere. In an emergency, notify the nearest government representative immediately. Confirm actual reception arrangements at the port in advance.

Yachts must submit the vessel name, master and identity details for everyone aboard, expected arrival and departure information, and other details to Immigration in advance, and obtain written approval before sailing to the Marshall Islands. Passport and visa requirements for each crew member and passenger depend on status and nationality. Confirm C-1 yacht visa and exemption requirements directly with Immigration.

Bilateral cruising arrangements reported for US vessels in earlier years must not be generalized as customs-free entry for all foreign vessels. Check the vessel's actual flag and use.

On arrival, declare food, plants, animals and waste aboard as required by quarantine authorities and cooperate with any inspection. Do not land vessel waste without permission. Live animals may require an import permit and health certificate and may have to enter through a designated port. Confirm in advance whether specific items may be taken ashore.

UK travel advice warns that firearms, ammunition and drugs are subject to import prohibitions, cash exceeding the equivalent of USD 10,000 must be declared, and coral and turtle shell may not be exported. Majuro Port lists advance notice, vessel registration, crew list, health and customs documents, quarantine declarations and previous-port clearance among the required documents. Immigration separately lists arrival/departure forms. The port and immigration websites specify different advance-notice periods. Contact the destination port and Immigration early and confirm the deadline applicable to the vessel with each authority.

No uniform total clearance price for all private yachts has been confirmed. Before departure, ask port, customs, immigration and quarantine authorities separately about charges for the vessel. Confirm berth, overtime and inspection charges and the required departure documents. Visa or airport departure fees should not be treated as yacht-clearance fees.
