Información general
Scope
The Kuwait Ports Authority (KPA) lists Shuwaikh, Shuaiba and Doha as major commercial ports; Shuwaikh is described as the principal commercial port. Official information does not establish that these ports receive foreign private yachts for entry clearance. In 2026, Kuwait's Ministry of Interior announced Decree No. 61 on marine facilities and floating units. The notice says it took effect when published in the official gazette on 7 June 2026 and that existing facilities have a transition period. Confirm with the responsible authority whether and how the decree applies to visiting yachts.

Ports of entry and departure
KPA lists Shuwaikh, Shuaiba and Doha as major commercial ports, and describes Shuwaikh as Kuwait's main commercial port. Published port information does not confirm that foreign private yachts can complete border and customs formalities at these ports, and it does not list a yacht-specific port of entry. Before departure, confirm with the port authority, customs and coast guard which ports can clear yachts, and verify berth and arrival arrangements.

Notificación previa a la llegada
Pre-arrival notification
The GCC Unified Customs Law provides a framework for declarations and documents accompanying vessels entering or leaving customs-controlled areas, including cargo manifests, ship's stores, crew effects and passenger lists. Available public text does not establish an advance-notice deadline, submission channel or form for foreign private yachts. Do not apply commercial-vessel deadlines automatically. Before arrival, contact the port agent, customs and coast guard to confirm the documents and reporting arrangements for the yacht.

Inmigración
Crew and passenger entry
Check visa category and eligibility for each crew member according to nationality and purpose of travel through the Ministry of Interior's official visa platform. A visa/e-visa requirement does not replace reporting a vessel's arrival by sea, border inspection or permission for crew to go ashore. Platform information reviewed does not confirm a dedicated procedure for foreign yacht crew. Before departure, confirm required documents, reporting method and shore-leave permission with immigration or the coast guard.

Aduana de la embarcación
Vessel customs
The GCC Unified Customs Law generally requires vessels to enter ports designated to receive vessels; exceptions such as emergencies must be reported as required by customs. The law also provides a framework for vessel declarations and manifests covering cargo, ship's stores, crew effects, passenger lists and unloading. These are general customs rules. The available English text does not confirm the specific forms, deadlines, temporary-import procedure or stay authorization for foreign private yachts. Confirm applicable requirements with Kuwait Customs before arrival.

Cuarentena y bioseguridad
Quarantine and biosecurity
Kuwait's Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) published food-import regulations in 2023. They establish that food imports are regulated, but do not establish whether stores for a yacht's own use are exempt or specify yacht-specific rules for pets, plants, animals, meat, eggs, dairy or waste aboard. Before arrival, confirm declaration, inspection and disposal requirements with PAFN, agricultural authorities and customs. Do not land relevant items until instructed.

Artículos prohibidos o restringidos
Kuwait Customs says prohibited goods may not be imported and restricted goods require approval from the competent Kuwaiti authority. The Unified Customs Law also requires maritime transport to enter Kuwait through designated receiving ports; vessels under 200 tons carrying prohibited, restricted or high-duty goods face additional restrictions in specified customs areas. These are general controls on vessels and cargo. They do not establish how personal-use goods or stores kept aboard a private yacht must be permitted, declared or handled.
Before departure, ask Kuwait Customs and the relevant authorities whether firearms/ammunition, spearguns, pyrotechnic signals, drones, controlled medicines, antiquities, wildlife products or large amounts of cash may be carried in, require advance authorization or declaration, and how they must be handled on departure. Do not assume an item is allowed because a general guide does not list it.
Verification status: To be confirmed. General customs rules for vessel port calls and restricted goods were checked; specific application to private-yacht personal effects and stores retained aboard remains unconfirmed.

Trámites portuarios
Arrival procedures
An older Noonsite report on Shuwaikh clearance says a foreign yacht first clears at Shuwaikh and is then directed to Kuwait Yacht Club marina, about 8 km to the southeast. The port and border authorities have not confirmed whether this arrangement is current; it does not establish today's reception arrangements, office hours or sequence of formalities.
Kuwait's Ministry of Interior announced that Law No. 61/2026 on marine facilities and floating units came into force in June 2026, but the announcement does not give a clearance route or steps for visiting foreign private yachts. Before departure, confirm the designated arrival point, permission to berth, contact method and sequence of formalities with the port, customs, border authorities and coast guard.
Verification status: Third-party source only. The old report of clearing at Shuwaikh and then moving to the yacht club has not been confirmed by authorities.
