概要
Ireland applies the EU temporary-admission rules for private yachts. A resident of a country outside the EU customs territory may temporarily bring a non-EU-registered yacht into the EU customs territory for private use, generally for up to 18 months, subject to eligibility and use restrictions.

Ports of entry and departure
Ireland's Revenue lists the following customs ports: Dundalk, Drogheda, Dublin, Wexford, New Ross, Waterford, Cork, Skibbereen, Tralee, Limerick, Galway, Westport and Sligo. It says these ports are authorized to process the arrival and departure of vessels, passengers, crew and their baggage. Ireland's Immigration Service Delivery separately publishes a list of immigration ports, which covers immigration only and does not replace confirmation from customs or other authorities. Specific processing locations within a port may also be restricted. Before departure, confirm with the intended port whether it receives private yachts and how the relevant authorities will handle formalities.
Verification status: Official sources checked online. The customs-port list is from Revenue (published 3 June 2026); the immigration list is from Immigration Service Delivery (updated 9 May 2023). Private-yacht reception must be confirmed port by port.

Pre-arrival notification
Revenue's customs guidance says yachts arriving from outside the EU generally do not need to make a general arrival declaration. The master must still meet notification obligations based on the goods aboard, such as non-Union goods or prohibited/restricted items. The usual first step is to contact local Revenue through the harbour master. Confirm with customs whether an electronic declaration is required and which exemptions apply to the goods aboard. To help the port receive the vessel, it is good practice to give the harbour master the vessel name and flag, previous port, ETA, number of people aboard and contact details in advance, and to confirm acknowledgement and arrival arrangements. This information is a practical recommendation, not a uniform statutory deadline.
Verification status: Official sources checked online. Customs reporting obligations depend on the origin of the arrival and goods aboard; this page does not assume a uniform advance-notice period for private yachts.

Ireland is not in the Schengen Area and is not one of the 29 countries using EES. Entry to Ireland is governed by Ireland's own border and visa system. A Schengen visa or an EES record from another Schengen country does not by itself establish eligibility to enter Ireland. The vessel's 18-month EU customs temporary admission is separate from the period a person may stay.

Vessel customs
A privately used pleasure craft registered outside the EU, owned by a person established outside the EU and used by a person established outside the EU may qualify for temporary admission with relief from customs duty and VAT. It must normally be re-exported within 18 months of import. A general import/export declaration is usually not required, but confirm the conditions, exceptions and treatment of goods aboard.

検疫・バイオセキュリティ
If bringing a cat, dog or ferret into Ireland from a non-EU country aboard a private yacht, contact the responsible authority in advance to confirm whether the designated arrival point can process it. Pets must meet EU travel requirements and undergo inspection. Irish authorities warn that it is generally not possible to arrange entry for such pets arriving on a private yacht. Do not sail to the port concerned without confirmation. This applies to pets only and is not a general food or plant quarantine rule.

Restricted items
Revenue lists prohibited or restricted categories including certain meat, dairy, fish and their products; animals and plants; medicines; products made from endangered species; protected cultural objects; firearms, weapons, fireworks and explosives. Whether an item may be carried and which permit is required depend on the item, its origin and the voyage. Check the relevant Revenue guidance and confirm before departure. Cash of €10,000 or more (or its equivalent) carried into or out of the EU through an Irish port generally must be declared to customs. The rules have scope limits and exceptions, particularly for routes involving Northern Ireland.
Verification status: Official sources checked online. Confirm specific permit and declaration duties against Revenue's current topic guidance; this is not a yacht-specific item list.

Arrival procedures
Revenue's customs procedures manual says yachts can usually notify customs through the harbour master at the port of entry. The master may also ask the harbour master to contact customs or immigration; the harbour master then contacts the Revenue office for that port. Services vary between ports. Before arrival, confirm with the harbour master how to report, where to meet officials, whether the crew must remain aboard, and office/on-call hours. Do not assume all ports offer the same boarding service.
Verification status: Official sources checked online. The harbour master's role as contact and process for reaching local customs come from the Revenue manual; confirm specific arrangements with the receiving port.

No uniform departure-fee amount applicable to all private yachts was found. Vessels qualifying for EU temporary admission may receive relief from import duties and taxes. Ports, agents or individual services may charge separately; confirm before departure.
