Scope

The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) provides a yacht-specific C1A arrival/departure declaration form, which includes a private pleasure vessel category and vessel, crew and passenger details. Immigration formalities for people are handled separately at designated immigration ports. Confirm port, temporary-import and departure procedures with the GRA and maritime authorities as appropriate.

Ports of entry and departure

Noonsite yachting references list Georgetown and Bartica as practical yacht-clearance points; full yacht-clearance capability at Parika has not been confirmed. Georgetown, Bartica, Parika and other locations listed by Guyana's Ministry of Home Affairs are immigration ports for foreign nationals. That does not mean each location can process yacht customs formalities. Before departure, confirm each intended port with customs, immigration and port authorities.

Pre-arrival notification

A current GRA notice dated 2 February 2026 requires vessels arriving in or departing Guyana to submit advance information to customs about people and goods on board. For arrivals from outside the regions specified in the notice, submit no later than 24 hours before arrival; for arrivals from within those regions, submit no later than one hour before arrival. The vessel's agent submits the manifest through ASYCUDA, after which the boarding officer enters the arrival time to complete validation. The GRA also provides the yacht-specific C1A arrival/departure declaration.

The notice does not explain how a private yacht without an agent should submit advance information, nor does it itemize crew and passenger documents. Confirm the submission channel and deadline with the GRA before departure.

Crew entry

Guyana's Ministry of Home Affairs requires foreign nationals to report to immigration officers at designated ports of entry and departure. The list includes Georgetown, Bartica and Parika. These are immigration ports for people; the list does not guarantee that yacht customs clearance is available at each location. Check visa and stay eligibility according to each person's nationality and travel document.

Vessel customs

The GRA's C1A is a yacht-specific arrival/departure declaration. It asks for vessel registration, previous and next ports, crew, passengers and activity category, including “Private Pleasure.” The form confirms that a yacht declaration procedure exists, but does not specify a temporary-import period, duty-free scope or bond requirements. Confirm those details separately with the GRA.

Quarantine and biosecurity

The official animal-import guidance from Guyana's Livestock Development Authority requires an import permit in advance. The Animal Health Department must be notified at least 24 hours before the animal arrives, and the animal must be accompanied by a veterinary health certificate from its place of origin. Veterinary officers inspect animals at the port of entry and may require quarantine. This guidance covers animals intended to be imported or brought into Guyana; it does not establish the complete rules for food, plants, pets or stores that remain aboard a private yacht. Confirm requirements for onboard supplies and plant quarantine with the relevant authorities before departure.

Restricted items

The GRA's general import list identifies weapons and ammunition requiring written permission from the Commissioner of Police, certain medicines subject to licensing, and goods controlled under other laws. Additional restrictions may apply to food or animal-disease risks. The list concerns imported goods and does not explain any special treatment for personal-use items or stores kept aboard a private yacht. Before taking regulated goods ashore, delivering them or importing them, obtain the relevant permits by item category and confirm the requirements with the GRA and other responsible authorities.

Arrival procedures

The Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) requires a vessel to obtain a Certificate of Clearance before leaving a Guyanese port. Applications for foreign vessels must include proof of vessel registration and a crew list, and should be made through MARAD's form before departure. This is a maritime departure procedure and does not replace customs or immigration clearance. Confirm the arrival reporting sequence and location for a private yacht with the port concerned.

Fees and departure

Private yachts must use the C1A declaration on departure, but no yacht-specific departure fee schedule was confirmed in this review. The GRA's general customs fees are listed by vessel or cargo category, and there is no evidence that those amounts apply to private pleasure yachts; no amount is therefore stated here. Confirm the applicable fees, currency and payment receipt with the GRA.
