Foreign tourist yacht procedures

Yacht entry and departure ports

Foreign tourist yachts must declare ETA, destination berth port and complete itinerary through the Ministry of Transport Maritime Transport and Logistics Sector yacht single window and await authority approval. Prime Ministerial Decision No. 2721/2022 identifies eligible facility categories as international tourist marinas and public tourist/commercial ports with tourist vessel stations or tourist-yacht berths. Not every seaport or marina is automatically eligible. Arrival and departure procedures may be handled at the first arrival port or the departure port. Foreign yachts may leave through a different port or tourist marina from their entry point. Before booking the voyage, verify in the single window that the particular port/marina is currently authorised and has available berths.

Yacht customs declarations and temporary release

The owner, master or authorised representative of a foreign tourist yacht submits yacht, crew/passenger, ETA, berth port and itinerary details through the Ministry of Transport yacht single window, which refers them to customs and other authorities. Egyptian Customs states that, after submission of the vessel application and documents, customs may grant advance visit approval on the platform and calculate suspended duties/taxes. Temporary customs release is completed on arrival, after which the yacht may navigate Egyptian coastal waters as approved. Arrival documents listed by customs include prescribed forms, crew/passenger information, duty/tax guarantee or payment evidence, and inventories of alcohol, cigarettes and other goods aboard. On departure, customs checks temporary-release papers, the yacht and payable duties/taxes and approves departure on the platform. Specific guarantee rules apply to regional coastal tourism. Egypt's foreign-yacht single window requires a Maritime Declaration of Health and answers to quarantine questions concerning sick or injured persons aboard and their condition. Submit health information before arrival under current window requirements and report illness or injuries accurately. This describes health/quarantine declarations, not complete quarantine permission for onboard food or animal/plant products. Confirm such goods separately with quarantine authorities.

The Egyptian Ministry of Transport states that on foreign-yacht arrival the owner or agent must register quantities of personal goods such as alcohol, cigarettes and cigars through the single window. Customs seals the relevant storage areas and checks remaining quantities on departure. Declare accurately under current platform requirements; do not break seals or use sealed goods without permission. Confirm other restricted-goods permits, carriage and declarations with Egyptian Customs and relevant authorities.
