概要

公式資料 確認日 · 2026-11-04本文の言語 · English

Denmark is in Schengen, with external borders including maritime and air boundaries. Whether a port arrival is treated as an external-border crossing depends on the vessel's departure location. Police conduct border checks and may inspect crew documents. Crew visa and entry-document requirements depend on nationality and route. This information concerns mainland Denmark; the Faroe Islands and Greenland have separate arrangements. Confirm voyage formalities with the destination port and Danish Police before sailing.

Mainland Denmark is in Schengen. Maritime crossings of the Schengen external border should use authorised border-check ports during their opening hours. The EU Schengen Borders Code allows yachts arriving from outside Schengen to use non-border ports only exceptionally. Those aboard must notify and obtain permission from port authorities, which must contact the nearest designated border crossing to report arrival and submit a persons-aboard list. The Faroe Islands and Greenland are outside Schengen; mainland Danish arrangements do not apply.

Yachts from outside Schengen may enter a non-designated border port only in exceptional circumstances. For this exception, those aboard must notify and obtain permission from port authorities, which contact the nearest designated crossing to report arrival. Give the passenger list to port authorities and make it available to border guards no later than arrival. This does not establish a uniform advance notice period for all Danish voyages.

Immigration

Personnel-check reminder: confirm with the receiving authorities in the Denmark, for every person, passport validity, nationality-based visa or prior-permission requirements, eligibility to arrive by sea, permitted stay dates, and arrangements for crew changes and leaving the vessel. Air-arrival visas, cruise-group concessions or a travel account concerning one nationality cannot be extended to a visa exemption for everyone on a private yacht. Vessel stay and personal residence permissions must be assessed separately. This section makes no blanket visa-free assurance.

Important 2026 update | European Entry/Exit System (EES): Since April 10, 2026, EES has been fully operational at the external border crossings of the 29 participating countries. Eligible non-EU short-stay travellers may need to register passport details, facial images/fingerprints and entry/exit times. Exemptions apply; applicability cannot be determined solely by the vessel's flag. Private yachts must confirm processing arrangements with the actual receiving border port; this does not mean every domestic port can provide clearance.

ETIAS status (November 3, 2026): The official EU website states that it is not yet operational and applications are not being accepted. It is not a travel authorisation currently required for purchase. Recheck once implementation dates are announced.

Vessel customs

Vessel-document reminder: prepare registration/flag documents, proof of ownership or the owner's authorisation, insurance, previous-port clearance and an inventory of goods aboard. Ask Danish customs whether temporary admission, leaving the vessel, repairs, crew changes, sale or conversion to commercial use require additional formalities. No duty-free period or guarantee conditions applicable to all foreign vessels have been verified. A mooring permit must not be treated as customs release.

EU vessel Temporary Admission (separate from personal permitted stays): Qualifying private yachts registered outside the EU and used mainly by eligible residents outside the EU can normally be used temporarily within the EU customs territory for 18 months, with customs duty/import VAT temporarily relieved. Taxes may become due if conditions are not met, the vessel is used commercially or it is not re-exported on time. This is not an 18-month personal visa.

Meat, dairy and other animal-origin food entering Denmark from outside the EU normally face strict EU import restrictions. Plants and other foods may also be restricted according to origin or risk. Pet requirements depend on species, departure location and whether travel is non-commercial; some third-country arrivals must use designated inspection points. Check onboard food, plants and pets against the latest official lists and confirm with the competent authority before arrival.

Cross-border carriage of firearms, firearm parts and ammunition may require Danish Police import permission, depending on category and circumstances. Exceptions exist for some items, but other permissions may still be required. Confirm with Danish Police before departure; do not rely solely on this summary when carrying controlled goods.

A yacht from outside Schengen using a non-designated border port exceptionally must notify and obtain permission from port authorities first. The authorities must contact the nearest designated crossing to report arrival. Give them the passenger list for border guards to inspect no later than arrival. During checks, also submit a document with vessel technical particulars and the names of everyone aboard, and keep a copy aboard. This is an exceptional procedure, not a routine port-call process.

Currently available information provides no uniform nationwide Danish private-yacht outward-clearance fee. Noonsite notes that many Danish yacht harbours charge separate berth/port-use fees, sometimes paid at self-service machines. These are port or mooring charges and must not be confused with customs departure fees. Amounts vary by port, berth and services. Before departure, check the visited port's current tariff and confirm any applicable border or customs formalities.
