Panoramica
The Democratic Republic of the Congo has an Atlantic coastline and river ports accessible via the lower Congo River’s maritime reach. State transport company ONATRA lists Banana, Boma and Matadi as seaports. The International Hydrographic Organization’s 2024 report says vessels can travel from the Atlantic through the estuary to Matadi, about 150 km from the river mouth.
These sources describe the port network and commercial shipping routes; they do not mean each location is approved for foreign private-yacht entry or available for yacht berthing. Before planning a route, confirm yacht entry permission and the actual processing location separately with maritime, port, Immigration and Customs authorities.

Porti di ingresso e uscita
ONATRA S.A. lists Banana, Boma and Matadi as seaports in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. An International Hydrographic Organization report says vessels can travel from the Atlantic through the estuary upriver to Matadi.
Important limitation: These are port/route sources, not a list of yacht ports of entry, and they do not show that these ports can process Customs, Immigration and quarantine formalities for foreign private yachts. Before arrival, confirm the designated reporting port, berth and availability of border staff with port management and maritime, Immigration and Customs authorities.

Notifica prima dell’arrivo
The Democratic Republic of the Congo General Directorate of Customs and Excise (DGDA) public import procedure for international cargo says goods must be listed on the transport vehicle’s manifest; on arrival at a Customs office, the carrier (including the master) must submit a signed loading/cargo manifest and related transport documents. This covers cargo control and does not specify yacht crew-notice deadlines, yacht forms or a uniform reporting process.
If carrying goods to declare, commercial cargo or controlled items, contact DGDA and the intended port before departure to confirm reporting methods, documents and deadlines for yachts and onboard items. Do not treat a commercial cargo-manifest requirement as a complete yacht checklist.

Immigrazione
Visa requirements in the Democratic Republic of the Congo vary by nationality and visa class. The official tourism portal says visas are handled by overseas embassies/consulates and the Directorate General of Migration (DGM), depending on the applicable category, and advises visitors to apply in advance. Before departure, check eligibility, documents and stay conditions through DGM or the Congolese embassy responsible for your residence.
An eVisa or “visa on arrival” description for an airport does not establish that the visa can be used for entry by sea. Yacht crew should confirm with the issuing authority and destination port whether the visa covers the intended seaport; do not assume crew status itself provides a visa exemption.

Dogana dell’imbarcazione
The published Customs manifest and electronic-declaration procedures concern imported cargo. Ask the port and Customs separately about entry ports, vessel declarations and temporary admission for a private yacht.

Quarantena e biosicurezza
DRC Customs says food carried by travellers or importers must be processed at a designated Customs office and may be subject to document and physical checks based on risk; its guidance also mentions health and phytosanitary measures. Customs separately explains CITES controls on trade in protected wildlife and products. These sources do not specify yacht procedures for food, pets or vessel waste. Confirm requirements for this voyage with Customs and quarantine authorities before sailing.
Verification status: Official information checked online. The review confirmed general traveller food inspections and CITES background, not a specific yacht quarantine procedure.

Articoli vietati o soggetti a restrizioni
The DRC Customs public restricted-import list identifies weapons and ammunition, explosives, pesticides and other goods requiring authorization, and lists categories of prohibited imports. It covers imported goods and is not a complete rulebook for private yacht passengers or stores. Before carrying firearms, ammunition, controlled medicines, CITES species or other potentially restricted items, confirm declarations, permits, custody and re-export requirements with Customs and the relevant authority.
Verification status: Official information checked online. The DGDA’s current list and the responsible authority’s response determine the specific categories and scope; this page does not assume a yacht exemption or permit.
