Vue d’ensemble
Bosnia and Herzegovina has only one stretch of Adriatic coastline, at Neum. The Council of Ministers website gives its length as approximately 21.2 kilometres. Foreign pleasure craft are subject to border permission and inspection requirements. Available information does not establish which Neum berths remain open for international yacht clearance; confirm with the competent authorities before arrival.

Ports d’entrée et de sortie
Bosnia and Herzegovina's only coastline is at Neum. A 2025 Border Police announcement stated that the Neum pier was operating as a temporary border crossing at that time. It does not establish that the crossing remains open, nor provide a list of permanent ports offering all yacht clearance formalities. The Border Control Law requires yachts on international voyages to complete border checks at a port with a maritime or river border crossing. Before sailing, obtain written confirmation from Neum Border Police, the port authority and customs that the crossing is currently operational and will accept this vessel.

Déclaration préalable à l’arrivée
Article 23 of the Border Control Law requires foreign pleasure or sporting craft to obtain permission to navigate or remain in the coastal waters of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After entry into its waters, permission is issued by the nearest port authority with the consent of the local Border Police and Indirect Taxation Authority. The article does not specify a uniform pre-arrival reporting deadline or online booking channel. Before departure, contact the receiving port, Neum Border Police and customs to confirm whether the temporary crossing is operating, how to apply, the required crew/passenger information and acknowledgement arrangements.

Immigration
Personnel-check reminder: confirm with the receiving authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, for every person, passport validity, nationality-based visa or prior-permission requirements, eligibility to arrive by sea, permitted stay dates, and arrangements for crew changes and leaving the vessel. Vessel stay and personal residence permissions must be assessed separately. This section makes no blanket visa-free assurance.

Formalités portuaires
After foreign pleasure craft enter the waters of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the nearest port authority must issue navigation/stay permission with the consent of the local Border Police and Indirect Taxation Authority (Article 23 of the Border Control Law). After entering territorial waters, yachts on international voyages must, except when exercising innocent passage, call at a port with a maritime or river border crossing for border checks and submit crew and passenger lists to the Border Police when crossing the border (Article 24). If force majeure requires a call outside a designated crossing, immediately notify the nearest Border Police or local police.
