Argentina's national maritime authority is the Prefectura Naval Argentina (PNA). Foreign vessels must complete entry formalities with the relevant authorities at designated maritime, river, or port border points. Immigration, customs, and health inspections are handled by their respective agencies. First confirm with the PNA, immigration, and customs jurisdictions serving the intended arrival point which ports and procedures are available for this vessel type.

Entry must be through a maritime, river, or land port activated by Argentina's National Directorate of Migration (DNM), where immigration inspection is carried out; vessel movements and navigation permits fall under the PNA. National official pages do not provide a complete port list applicable to every foreign yacht. Before departure, confirm with the relevant PNA district and Customs that the intended port can process this vessel's entry, customs, and immigration formalities. Do not go ashore first at an unofficial location.

Before sailing to Argentina, contact the PNA, DNM, Customs, and health authorities at the intended port of arrival to ask about arrival reporting, required vessel and crew documents, inspection arrangements, and service hours. The PNA provides an electronic arrival/departure dispatch process for international voyages by sea; a pleasure vessel sailing to a foreign port must obtain a departure despacho from the PNA. The national information reviewed does not establish a uniform advance-arrival notice period for all yachts.

Crew and passengers must undergo immigration inspection at an activated port and carry valid travel documents applicable to them. DNM's visitor guidance generally requires a valid passport; nationals of some neighbouring countries may use a valid identity document. Visa requirements depend on nationality and travel document; check DNM's current nationality-specific rules. Visitors are generally authorised to stay for up to three months, but each person's entry record and DNM's decision govern the permitted stay.

Temporary admission of foreign yachts is governed by customs rules. Periods and conditions may vary according to flag, the owner's or user's status, and whether the person is a visitor. The PNA's official FAQ summarises rules that distinguish Mercosur visitors from visitors from other countries and describes the vessel period and extension process for the latter. As that summary cites older regulations, confirm current periods, temporary-admission documents, security or taxes, and departure procedures with the competent Customs office before arrival. Temporary admission is not permanent importation.

SENASA conducts health inspections of imported plants, animals, food, and agricultural products. Its official traveller guidance lists common items that may not be brought in without authorisation, including fresh fruit and vegetables, plants and seeds, meat, and homemade or unlabeled food. Some processed foods may be allowed if packaging, labelling, personal-use, and other conditions are met. Dogs and cats must have an international veterinary certificate or official passport issued or certified by the country of origin's official veterinarian, covering health, a valid rabies vaccination, and required internal and external parasite treatments. Documents, identity, and, where necessary, the animal are checked on arrival. Verify current SENASA requirements before departure.

Food, plants, seeds, animals, and related products are subject to SENASA restrictions. Meat, fresh produce, plant material, and homemade unlabeled food without the required authorisation may be held or destroyed. Firearms, ammunition, medicines, radio equipment, alcohol, and large amounts of cash may also be subject to permits, declarations, or customs rules. The Argentine official sources reviewed do not provide a single list for yacht passengers. Declare items separately to Customs, the PNA, and the relevant authorities, and check requirements in advance; do not bring restricted items without authorisation.

After arrival, remain at the authorised location, report to the PNA as directed by the district, and complete vessel dispatch and immigration, customs, and health inspections. Provide vessel registration/flag documents, crew and passenger lists, and other materials requested by the authorities. The electronic dispatch instructions for international vessels cover vessel, crew, passenger, cargo, and border-health information, as well as submission for maritime-authority approval. To depart, a pleasure vessel's master or person in charge must obtain a despacho from the relevant PNA district and have the vessel registration certificate, the responsible person's maritime travel document, and identity documents for everyone aboard. Once approved, the official service page says the vessel may sail within 24 hours.

The PNA's official service page lists the departure procedure for pleasure vessels as free and estimates processing at about 10 minutes; once approved, the vessel may sail within 24 hours. This applies only to the pleasure-vessel departure procedure described on that page. It does not mean customs, immigration, marina, agent, inspection, or other port services are free. Before arrival or departure, confirm applicable charges, payment methods, office hours, and holiday arrangements with the authorities and marina.
