SeaChart 2.5.1 (Beta version) Release Notes
This update introduces a new full-screen navigation dashboard, along with major improvements to map interactions, tools, and settings in landscape mode.
New Full-Screen Navigation Dashboard
- Added a new dashboard accessible from the map's Fn menu, providing a central view of speed, compass heading, GPS coordinates, dual trip meters, roll, and pitch.
- Devices equipped with a barometer can display atmospheric pressure and historical trends. The pressure section is automatically hidden on unsupported devices.
- Dual trip meters support independent resets and saved accumulated distances, with filtering for stationary GPS drift, abnormal location readings, and extended GPS signal interruptions.
- Tap to switch between speed and distance units, synchronized with the app's unit settings. The inclinometer also supports zero calibration on both axes.
- Automatically adapts to portrait and landscape orientations. Free users can try the dashboard for one minute each time they open it, while Pro users enjoy unlimited access.
Improved Landscape Experience
- Moon Phases, Sunrise & Sunset, Fish Activity, and Boat Score now use side-by-side layouts to reduce vertical scrolling, with streamlined headers and controls.
- The Boat Inclinometer now provides more space for gauges and trend charts, featuring a floating back button with a semi-transparent circular background and reorganized information, calibration, and reset controls.
- The Settings home screen now features a fixed account section and a two-column grid of feature cards. Subscription and account management buttons have consistent dimensions and blue backgrounds with white text.
- Improved landscape layouts for Account Management, Login, Subscriptions & Payment History, Invite Friends, Redeem Code, AIS History, Language, About, and Support pages.
- Optimized Overview Charts, Weather Cache, and HD Chart Downloads. In landscape mode, HD chart selection controls now appear on the right, leaving more space for the map.
- Removed the title bar from the Map Controls Layout Editor and introduced a floating back button to maximize the editing area.
Unified Panels and Map Interactions
- Shared pop-up panels now open from the right in landscape mode while retaining bottom-sheet behavior in portrait mode, with smooth fade-in and fade-out background overlays.
- Landscape side panels now include a left-side drag handle and support swipe-right gestures to close. Panel widths, scrolling areas, and safe-area handling have also been refined.
- Redesigned the Layers panel to clearly separate layer toggles from detail actions, with improved grouping and weather access. The map remains interactive outside the panel while it is open.
- Rebuilt the Route Management layout for landscape mode, improving folders, route lists, bulk actions, locations, and transfer options.
- Unified map feature details, tide information, and location action panels while preserving map interactions outside the panels. The light sequence preview has been moved to the left of the close button.
- The map's Fn menu now supports an adaptive two-column layout, automatically switching to a single column on narrow screens or when larger font sizes are used.
Route Planning and AIS
- Route Planning Settings now have a dedicated page, including new illustrations for vessel draft and offshore distance. Valid changes are saved automatically, with a retry option if saving fails.
- Redesigned AIS Settings, device cards, and advanced settings, featuring side-by-side layouts in landscape mode.
- AIS devices can now be disabled even when disconnected or reconnecting. Pending connection attempts are cancelled, and the disabled state is saved without affecting reconnection requirements for other devices.
- Improved handling of rapid AIS connection switching to prevent outdated connections and callbacks from interfering with the current device state.
Updates, Feedback, and Media
- Updates and Feedback lists now support two-column landscape layouts. The Updates list includes a central divider, while detail pages feature improved content and comment sections.
- Improved the Feedback editor toolbar and preservation of input state during screen rotation.
- Updates, replies, and feedback now share a unified Add Media panel with an opaque dark background and separately grouped photo and video actions.
Bug Fixes and Other Improvements
- Fixed an issue where offline sharing QR codes appeared too large or were partially cut off in landscape mode. QR codes are now displayed in full, with explanatory text positioned below.
- Fixed landscape overflow and clipped options in weather download dialogs. Dialog content is now scrollable while Cancel and Retry buttons remain visible.
- Fixed an edge case when opening the image preview with an empty image list. Improved error handling for backup restoration and temporary file cleanup following chart installation failures.
- Enhanced startup exception logging, background error reporting, and page analytics to help identify and troubleshoot issues.
- Added translations for new interface text across 24 languages, with improved support for long text and right-to-left languages.

SeaChart 2.5.2 (Beta Release Notes)
This update introduces AIS Range Alerts and improves offline functionality, landscape interactions, and navigation data calculations.
New Features
AIS Range Alerts
- Set an alert radius from 0.1 to 10 nautical miles using a slider in Advanced AIS Settings.
- Display a range circle on the map that follows your current position, with audible alerts when other valid AIS vessels enter the selected range.
- Support background monitoring, alert muting, and monitoring status indicators.
- Preserve alert settings when AIS disconnects and automatically resume monitoring once the connection is restored.
Avatar Preview & Language Support
- Tap user avatars to view enlarged previews in activity feeds, activity details, the Feedback Center, and reply pages.
- Added Russian as a selectable language and completed missing translations across all 24 supported languages.
- Redesigned the language selection screen for improved usability in both portrait and landscape orientations.
Improvements
- Improved the landscape layout and touch scrolling in AIS vessel details.
- Redesigned reply details in landscape mode with equal-width columns, a floating back button, and more space for content.
- Refined layouts and close interactions for Anchor Watch, Moon Phase, and sidebar panels.
- Map pop-up panels now appear on top based on the order in which they are opened, making it easier to switch between them.
- Standardized Pro badges on user avatars and improved the display of current subscription status.
Bug Fixes
AIS & Navigation Data
- Improved automatic reconnection by checking the last successfully connected Wi-Fi network and reconnecting only disconnected devices.
- Corrected position-time compensation in AIS collision predictions and data merging priorities for NMEA inputs from multiple devices.
- Properly distinguished vessel heading from Course Over Ground (COG) and corrected the data source used for autopilot output.
- Fixed outdated navigation ETA values remaining visible after becoming invalid, and incorrect distance accumulation during prolonged low-speed travel.
- Improved roll period estimation to prevent irregular or interrupted vessel movements from being reported as valid roll cycles.
Maps, Offline & Media
- Fixed speed unit menus overlapping the speedometer and duplicate speedometer displays.
- Fixed layout configuration conflicts between portrait and landscape modes, as well as unsaved layout adjustments being lost after screen rotation.
- Fixed sidebar positioning issues when reopening the sidebar.
- Improved avatar disk caching and fixed incorrect fallback to outdated Google profile pictures while offline.
- Fixed weather data package checks becoming mixed up during rapid switching and outdated tasks overwriting newer states.
- Fixed tide calculations not updating when switching between locations.
- Improved video trimming with better loading behavior, selection validation, and screen exit handling.
- Fixed GPX import issues involving certain namespace-prefixed files. GPX and KML parsing now runs in the background to reduce UI freezes when importing large files.
- Enhanced local backup restoration, device identifier persistence, and state handling across account, payment, and download screens.
Performance & Stability
- Reduced unnecessary full-screen rebuilds caused by map state changes.
- Improved lifecycle management for asynchronous tasks, subscriptions, and background calculations.
- Fixed delayed callbacks from location, payment, and facility operations attempting to access screen state after the screen had been closed.
