Sharing locations
The easiest way to share locations is to select share from location info at the bottom and paste or share on WhatsApp
Problem: link is formatted as Google maps format and clicking that link opens in g maps with no other choice.
copying the link and paste in seachart search doesn't work, seachart can not decifer g map format
even if you force open with... seachart is no available as choice
can anything be done to register seachart as a navigation app and can it decifer g map formatted link
Thanks in advance
Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll look into this and consider whether SeaChart can support Google Maps location links and be registered as an app option for opening them.
Thank you for the suggestion.
At the moment, SeaChart does not provide a complete turn-by-turn navigation service, so registering it as a system navigation app could be difficult from an App Store review perspective. My current chart and data sources are designed to support marine navigation and situational awareness, but they do not provide the type of routing data required to generate true marine navigation routes automatically.
As an alternative, I plan to change the shared location link from a Google Maps link to a SeaChart-specific web link. I can then configure these links so that, when SeaChart is installed, tapping the link can open the location directly in SeaChart.
This should provide a much smoother way to share locations through WhatsApp or other apps without requiring SeaChart to be registered as a full navigation application.
Thank you for the response
This should work for seachart users but would exclude other navigation apps
Perhaps you could consider offer link format options
1 share as seachart link
2 share as Google maps link
3 share geo.
4 share coordinates
please see attached from Osmand
The objective is to make position sharing as flexible and usefull to as many people as possible
Thank you again
Have a lovely day
After thought
in addition to above post for choices, is there a way in the scenario whare a seachart link is sent to someone who doesn't have seachart installed, opening the link would give a message that it is not installed and offers to install
this may induced people to install.
Food for thought ;)

Thank you for the suggestion.
In the new version, shared SeaChart links will open a web page first. From there, users will be able to view the shared location and access additional sharing options.
Thanks again for the idea, and have a lovely day!
