Forum organisation Currently the forum is one long page, and is getting longer every day which makes hard to find relevant posts My feeling is that it would be easier and better to devide the forum into section Announcement where you post updates and new features etc. Installation and use Bug reports Requests ... etc. Also if the forum is searchable, would make it easier similar topics and avoid duplication If the forum is made accessible on the website from computer that would be great Thank you for your patience Have a lovely day

Wow, this is actually quite a big task When I originally designed this forum, I honestly did not expect there would be so many posts and discussions, so I will need to think carefully about how to reorganize and improve it. At the moment, the forum is already paginated. It only loads around 20 posts at a time, and more posts are loaded only when you scroll close to the bottom of the page, so it should not normally cause performance or freezing issues even as the number of posts grows. That said, your suggestions are very good. Categories such as Announcements, Installation & Usage, Bug Reports, and Feature Requests, together with search functionality and better desktop/web access, would definitely make it much easier to use. I will seriously consider upgrading the forum experience. I am also considering renaming the current “Forum” to something more like **Feedback Center**, because that is closer to how it is currently being used. In the future, I may introduce a proper community forum as a separate feature — or perhaps something more casual, similar to a community feed or “Moments” page. Thank you again for the suggestion. I will need some time to plan this properly.

Thank you for the response As it stands, the current forum is a message board. Proper forum applications are available. Usually published as a sub domain If you are considering that, do a quick search, I'll also have a look around and let you know Have a lovely day

Thank you for the suggestion. I have looked into traditional forum systems before. The difficulty is that a normal web forum cannot simply be embedded into the app without additional work. Once users can create and view forum posts inside the app, both Apple and Google treat this as user-generated content (UGC). For example, the app needs to provide appropriate content moderation, a way to report inappropriate posts or users, the ability to block abusive users, clear terms of use, and a process for dealing with reported content. Apple also requires objectionable content to be filtered and reports to be handled appropriately. So even if I use an existing forum package on a subdomain, I would still need to integrate these moderation and safety functions properly into the app. It is therefore quite a bit more work than simply embedding a forum webpage. That is one of the reasons the current system is intentionally kept relatively simple as a feedback/message board rather than a full public forum. Thank you again for looking into it and for the suggestions.

Thanks for the clarification Perhaps in the future you can consider a setup where the forum opens in browser same as the link to your homepage, or host the forum on your domain, and maybe add this under support in the settings area thanks again and all the best

Thank you for the suggestion. I also received your email. At the moment, I’m not planning to simply embed a web-based forum into the app. One of my main concerns is that a web forum depends heavily on an internet connection, which means users would not be able to view anything when they are offline. Instead, I’m planning to experiment with building a more integrated forum/community feature myself, so it can work more naturally with SeaChart and potentially provide a better experience for users. Thank you again for your suggestions and support.

Thanks for the feedback Forums are usually considered part of the app support and are meant for users to support each others and offer guidance and share information about the app and in someway relieve the admin wheather you choose to make it Web based or integrated in the app, either way Internet connection is needed to refresh and update the information In most cases, the user will access the Forum when they are on land, not sailing Perhaps you can integrate a user manual or FAQ to be used ofline Food for thought :) One more thing At the moment, when reading a post and go back, you go to the top of the page, not to where you were at the page for the time being, this is manageable, but as the number of posts increase, this would cause a forum navigation problem Thanks again All the best

Thank you for the thoughtful suggestions. For now, I’d like to first release the Fishing Moments feature and see how well this model works. If it works well, I’ll likely reuse a similar approach for the forum later. As for the issue where going back from a post returns you to the top of the page, that has already been fixed. Thanks again for the feedback and ideas. All the best!
